悪戦苦闘でも、楽しい英作文の日々

　庭の入口にあるこの果樹は昨年、実が１個生りましたが、果たして今年はたくさん生るでしょうか。空の青さとは対称的に咲いてるこの果樹は何でしょう。車はこの枝の下を通るように植えてあります。未だ、若木ですが、年々大きくなると期待してます。果物はこれ以外はビワと金柑、梅です。答えは杏です。

 This fruit tree at the entrance of the garden produced one fruit last year, but will it produce a lot this year? Please tell me the name of this fruit tree that blooms symmetrically with the sky blue? Under this branch, my car passes through. It is still a young tree, but I expect it to grow year by year. The other fruits in the garden are loquat, kumquat and plum. The answer is apricot that is Anzu in our tongue.

　ところで、昨日は１３日の金曜日でした。これを英語では金曜日の１３日と表現します。日本語では「今度１7日に会いましょう。」と日にちが中心ですが、英語ではSee you next Tuesday.のように曜日に重きを置くようです。

　私はフェイスブックも外国の方が理解できるように英訳してますが、実は毎日、悪戦苦闘です。日本語と英語の違いは語順がポイントで、例えば、関係代名詞を使って後から説明を加えます。英訳には日米口語辞典と和英辞典が欠かせません。英作文は英借文だからです。

　以前に我が家にホームステイしたことのある二ュージーランドのバリーさんから「いいね」を戴くと励みになり、また、挑戦する気持ちが湧きます。

 Not shange the subject but, yesterday was 13th on Friday in Japanese. In English, it is said as Friday's 13th. Generally, in our tongue, it is stressed on the date like "I'll see you on 17th." But In English, the week is important like "See you next Tuesday".

 I also translate Facebook into English so as to understand for foreigners, but in fact, I struggle every day to translate. The difference between the two is the point of the word order. I often add explanations using relative pronoun. Two dictinaries of Modern American Colloquialisms and Japanese English are indispensable for translation. Because English composition imitates English text. 

 Though poor English translations, I'm encouraged, if I receive a "good" from Mr. Barry Spence in NZ who had ever stayed at my home. And I'm excited to challenge next time as well.
