脅威にもなる水、恩恵にもなる水

　毎日、雨がよく降り、以前に起こった水不足は今年はないでしょう。

　ところで、戦後のカスリーン台風では、群馬県でも５９４名の尊い人命が失われました。これが発端となり、未然に洪水を防ぐことを最大の目的に、併せて電力の供給、首都圏への飲料水確保のため、今年、群馬県に多目的ダムである「八ッ場ダム」が完成しました。

　このダムの完成には６０年以上に亘る紆余曲折の歴史があります。現在では水を満々と蓄えています。水は古来より人間生活の脅威になったり、一方、私たちは水の恩恵により生命を維持しています。

This was the beginning, in order to prevent floods that was the maximum purpose, supply electricity, and secure drinking water for Tokyo metropolitan area, this year, a multipurpose dam named Yamba Dam was completed in Gumma Prefecture.

 The completion of this dam has a long history of many disputes, what we called, twists and turns over 60 years. Currently,the dam is fully storing water. Water has been a threat to human life since ancient times, while we maintain our lives through the benefits of water.
