都市化が進み、水が飲めない野鳥たち

　庭にはヒヨドリやメジロなど野鳥がたくさん来ています。梅が満開の今は蜜蜂が、また、藤が咲くころは、どこからともなく熊蜂が飛来し、轟音を発しながら蜜を吸います。

　昔と変わり、堀や小川などの自然環境は、現代ではコンクリートの蓋によって塞がれ、人間にとっては整備されて便利になっても、野鳥たちにとっては水が飲めない一大事になってます。

　そこで最近、私は水飲み場を設置してます。写真では写ってませんが、室内から見ると時々野鳥が来て喉を潤してる様子が見られます。飲むたびに幾度も幾度も美味しそうに嘴を上に向けて飲み込み、時には残ったご飯を置くと良いものにあり付けた表情で、とても平和な姿が見られます。

 Many wild birds such as a bulbul and a white-eye are flying from nowhere to the garden. When the plum blossoms are in full bloom now, many bees are flying. On the other hand, when the wisteria blooms, carpenter bees fly from nowhere with roaring sound and suck nectar.

 Unlike in the past, in modern times, the natural environment such as small moats and streams were blocked by concrete lids. Even if it is the convenient device maintained by humans, it is in great trouble for wild birds because they can't drink water.

 Therefore, I have recently set up a drinking fountain on the table. Although not shown in the photo, when viewed from the room, I can sometimes see wild bird coming and moistening her throat. Every time she drink it, she can swallow it with the beak facing up. When I put the remaining rice on it, I can see their peaceful appearance due to getting good food.
