相互依存の関係にあるメジロと梅の生態

　当り前ですが、植物に水を与えるときれいに開花し、花が長持ちします。また、梅の開花期間が長いので春の到来をしみじみ感じます。昨日も番いのメジロが来て暫く蜜を吸ってましたが、よく観察すると蜜を吸いつつ、雄しべと雌しべに触れながら受粉を促進しています。これが結果的に、梅がたくさん実ることにつながってます。

　ところが、メジロは紅梅には殆ど行かず、白梅のみの蜜を吸ってます。紅梅より白梅の蜜が美味しいのでしょう。今の時期に蝶は未だいません。ですから毎年、梅の実がたくさん生るのは蜜を吸う野鳥のお陰であり、今更ながら自然界の相互依存の関係を目にしてます。

 Obviously, when water is given to plants naturally or artificially, they bloom beautifully and the flowers last a long time. Since the plum blossoms have a long flowering period, I feel deeply the arrival of spring. Yesterday, the Japanese white-eyes came and sucked nectar for a while, but if looking closely, I can see that they promote pollination by touching the stamina and pistils. As a result, a lot of plums are produced every year.

 However, Japanese white-eye rarely goes to red plums and sucks the nectar of white plums only. The honey of white plums is more delicious than red plums I guess. Currently, there are no butterflies. Therefore, it is thanks to the wild birds that suck nectar, then a lot of plum fruits grow every year, so that I am still observing the interdependence of the natural world.
