長く咲く 西洋シャクナゲ 「フィリスコーン」

　シャクナゲを咲かすには、先ず土づくりが基本です。一般の黒土ではうまく育ちません。理由は根も呼吸するので土の中が密であってなりません。また、水はけの良さが大切だからです。私は小さい粒の赤玉土とピートモスを混合して植えてます。

　写真の西洋シャクナゲ「フィリスコーン」は、もうかれこれ１ヶ月近く咲いてます。花が咲き終わったら、新芽がすくすく伸びて来春の準備ができるようにします。そして、年々、樹木を大きくしていきます。それにより来年に花芽がたくさん生まれると考えてます。
