ウォーキング その目的は 健康と郷土の歴史

　先日、群馬県の赤城山・大沼一周ウォーキングをしていたとき、湖畔に佇む高さ３mほどの大きな記念碑がありました。これは昭和天皇が赤城山を訪れたとき随行した鈴木貫太郎氏が書いた碑です。彼は終戦当時の内閣総理大臣（第４２代）に就任した人物で、前橋桃井小学校から前橋中学（現・群馬県立前橋高等学校）へ進みました。

　私は前高に勤務してるときこれを知り驚きました。これからもあちこちウォーキングを通して、郷土・群馬の歴史を見て回ります。湖畔巡りは景色はもちろん、樹木や鳥類など自然との触れ合いが楽しいので、今後は野反湖畔、田代湖畔、バラキ湖畔などウォーキングで周遊できる湖を巡る予定です。

 The other day, when I was walking around the Lake Onuma at Mt. Akagi in Gumma prefecture, there was a large monument with a height of about 3m standing on the shore of the lake. This is a monument written by Famous Mr. Kantaro Suzuki, who accompanied Emperor of Showa era when he visited Mt. Akagi. He was the prime minister (42nd generation) of Japan at the end of World War Ⅱ. By the way, he graduated Maebashi Momonoi Elementary School, then he went to Maebashi Junior High School (currently Gumma Prefectural Maebashi High School).

 I was surprised to find this fact when I was working at Maetaka. I will continue to explore the history of Gumma where is my home ground through walking here and there. As I can enjoy not only the scenery but also the nature such as trees and birds, from now on, I plan to visit the lakes such as Nozori Lake, Tashiro Lake, and Baraki Lake where I can walk around.
