近海で 二つのプレート 西へと沈み込む

　今日の未明に緊急地震速報が鳴り、３０秒ほどして群馬高崎も揺れましたが、それほど大きく揺れませんでした。また、震源地の福島県でも津波の心配がないとのことで安心しました。

　ところで、昔に比べて地震は頻発しているように感じます。地震は地殻変動により地球の至る所で毎日起こっているのでしょう。特に火山列島であることや、地下深くでプレート同士の押し合いが起こる日本列島では地震の頻度は多いと考えられます。

　理論上では、日本列島付近で太平洋プレート、フィリピン海プレート、ユーラシアプレート及び北米プレートの４枚のプレートが相接しており、それらの境界が日本海溝、相模トラフ、南海トラフとなってます。 太平洋プレート及びフィリピン海プレートは、毎年数cmの速さで西に動き日本列島の下に潜り込んでいると言われます。

 Theoretically, in the vicinity of the Japanese archipelago, four plates, such as the Pacific plate, the Philippine Sea plate, the Eurasian plate, and the North American plate, are in contact with each other, and their boundaries are the Japan Trench, the Sagami Trough, and the Nankai Trough. The Pacific Plate and the Philippine Sea Plate are said to move west at a speed of several centimeters each year and sink below the Japanese archipelago.
