　今日は二十四節気の一つ「大雪」です。秒速約２９㎞で反時計回りに公転してる私たちの地球は「小雪」から、公転軌道上を１５°周遊し、「さそり座と太陽」を線で結んだ延長線上に差し掛かっています。ですから、「さそり座」は現在、日中に輝いてるので見えません。「さそり座」がよく見えるのは概して初夏の夜空です。

　「さそり座」の首に位置する一等星は橙色して有名な「アンタレス」です。この一等星は黄道上の近くにあるため同じ橙色した惑星である「火星」が時々この星に近づき、人類に間違われやすく、このため「アンタレスという名は火星に対抗する」と言う意味です。実は現在「アンタレス」と「火星」は接近してますが、残念ながら夜間でないためその事実を確認できません。互いに橙色した両者が夜間に近づくときはまた、お知らせします。
