　年を重ねるほど言語生活は大切で、言語的に複雑になれないと思考も単純になりやすいでしょう。私たちは日々の生活の中で苦労して生きることで様々なことを学びますが、それに加えて、読書を習慣化すれば、更に自分が体験できないことを広く学べます。

　読書の習慣があれば、極めて人間的な思考である創造力を広げることができ、同時に、教養も身につくとともに、日常生活において表現が豊かになります。表現力が広がると、何より人間関係を恐れなくなり、他人と意見が違うことも恐れなくなるでしょう。

　ところで、昔から作文教育の大切さは叫ばれています。しかし、現代はＩＴ化時代へと変化し、作文で「自分の心の中にあるものを整理して書く習慣」が少ない傾向かもしれません。

　作文教育が欠如すると表現力が豊かにならず「確固とした自分という人間」を作れないと考えられます。勉強の基本である読書と作文によって思考は深まることはもとより、日々の言語生活が豊かになり、併せて、人間的な交流も深まると思われます。

　未来輝く小中学生のうちから、読書と作文に親しみ、思考と表現力を豊かにしてほしいものです。
