真夏には 暑さ凌ぎに 怖い河

　毎日、猛暑が続きますが、暑さを凌ぐにはここへ行くしかありません。背筋がぞくぞくします。普通、一人では行けない所ですが、一人で行くと、その効果は想像以上です。倉賀野から車で４０分ほどなので、私はすでに１０回程行ってます。本当に、夜中は何か出そうで腰を抜かしそうで、怖くてとてもご案内できない川です。

　実は、私はうす暗い時間帯に、この川の上流まで一人で恐る恐る歩いて行きましたら、次第に川幅が細くなり、ついに「出た！」と思いきや、気味悪くカラスが鳴き出し、足がガタガタ震え、鳥肌が立ち、やはり、ただの川とは違います。群馬県には恐ろしい所があるものです。

　私が実際に現地に行って確認した三途の川は群馬県内に２ヶ所です。一つは上信線の上州新屋駅の北から南西に向かって流れてます。それが 一級河川「三途川」です。もう一ヶ所は赤城山の小沼から比較的狭い道を粕川方面へ南下した位置に「三途の川」があります。
　
　常にほとんど人影はないひっそりした薄気味悪い場所ですから、もし訪れる場合は、何かあっても対処できるように、どちらの川も明るい午前中がよいでしょう。でも、緊張のあまり足が竦んでしまうかもしれません。

　To tell the truth, when I walked to the upper stream of this river in a dimly lit time, the width of the river gradually narrowed, and finally I noticed, "Uncertain something has appeared!" My legs rattle and I got gooseflesh all over at the sight, therefore I thought it's not just a normal river.
Gumma prefecture has a terrifying place. If you want to experience it, but I'm sorry if something comes out, I'll run away first leaving you.

　There are two Rivers of Styx in Gumma prefecture that I actually went to and confirmed. One river runs from the north to the southwest of Joshu-Niiya Station on the Joshin Line. That is the first-class river named formally "River of Styx". The other place is the river in the photo below at the southern position of Lake Onuma on Mt. Akagi. It situates toward Kasukawa-town by the relatively narrow road.

　It is a quiet and really spooky place with few people at all times, so if you visit, so as to deal with anything, it would be better to go there during a bright morning on both rivers. However, of course, you may feel too horrible to move your legs.
