いつ見ても ユニークな山容 荒船山

　写真は昨日、日没直後に撮りました。私の家の窓から見て西南西の方角にある荒船山【１４２３m】です。絵に描いたように典型的なテーブルマウンテンで、子供の頃から「不思議な形をした山」と感じてました。このため、今まで４回登頂しました。

　端から端まで歩くと１時間ほどかかり、周囲は２００mほどの断崖絶壁で滑落したら一巻の終わりです。もちろん、柵はありません。ですから逆に景色は最高で、日本アルプス、大きな浅間山、そして、眼下に広い神津牧場が見えます。

　倉賀野から見て、現在の日没の方角は、この荒船山よりもっと南です。そういえば、最初に登った高校生のとき、登山中の苦労や、登頂した喜びの印象を作曲したことがあります。

　残念にも、その楽譜はどこかに行ってしまいました。もしかして、シューベルトの「未完成」のように作曲家の死後３０年ほどして楽譜が発見されるでしょうか。その時は「荒船シンフォニー」と命名してください。

Dear my overseas friends who like mountaineering

　The photo was taken yesterday evening, just after sunset. Mt. Arafune [1423m] is located in the west-southwest direction from the window of my house.
