空腹や 喉の渇きは 野鳥も人間も同じ

　どうしたことか、私は半世紀に亘り、レース鳩を飼育してました。この原因は、不思議なことに「北海道など考えられないほど遠方から、海山越えて群馬の我が家に帰ってくる習性」に私がとても魅力を感じていたのでしょう。最後の年には日本最北の地「稚内市」から帰ってきて入賞しました。誠に卓越した能力です。

　この半世紀の間、朝と晩に新鮮な飲み水と餌を与え続けてきました。というより、レース鳩が持つ高い能力を引き出すため、「どんな餌や野菜を、どんな鉱物飼料を与えるか、どこから訓練するか」例えば、新潟県や栃木県などから個人訓練し、飼育を続けてました。

　こんな経験から、今でも、庭に飛来する野鳥に水を与えてます。餌は自ら木の実を見つけてもらいます。先日はクロガネモチの赤い実がみんな食べられてしまいました。今度はピラカンサがそろそろ食べ頃です。人間も野鳥も空腹と喉の渇きの辛さは同じです。
