北へ移動する日没地点 日に日に早まる

　群馬県の西南～西北には、上信越県境の山並みが連なってます。この中で、ご覧のユニークなテーブルマウンテンは「荒船山」【標高１４２３m】です。まるで大海を進む船のようです。覚えているだけで２０代から私は４回登頂しました。近年では左の高い地点からレース鳩を飛ばし、我が家まで帰還させたことがあります。

　実は、２月下旬となり、私の家から見える日没地点がこの「荒船山」になってきました。ご覧のように、地上は平らで長いのでおよそ１週間はここに太陽が沈みます。

　今の時季は太陽が沈む位置が日に日に北へと変化しますから、幾日か見ないでいると荒船山の絶壁より北側になってしまいます。

　国立天文台によると、群馬県の日没時刻は１７時２９分ですが、実際には、山岳なのでこれより１０分ほど早まります。しっかり日没を鑑賞すると地球が刻々と自転してる事実を自分の目で確認できます。

　According to the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, the sunset time in Gumma Prefecture is 17:29 today, but it is actually about 10 minutes earlier than this time, due to the mountains. When we watch the sunset properly, we can see with our own eyes the fact that the earth is rotating every moment.
