島方記者にテレビを通じて再会

　現在、東京のＮＨＫで災害担当の島方記者は、台風接近で起こる線状降水帯など自然災害に関することで解説し、時々、テレビ画面に登場します。私は暫くぶりにテレビを通じて彼に再会です。

　実は、私が前高吹奏楽部顧問をしてたとき、彼は吹奏楽部部長でトロンボーン担当でした。草津へ合宿へ行く場合など、彼に電車での生徒引率を任せ、私は合宿中の不測の事態に対応できるように車で行きました。５０人程の部員たちは引率中、彼のことを先生と呼ぶようにしてました。それにしても、ＮＨＫ記者としての道を歩み、素晴らしく思います。

　Actually, when I was an advisor for the Maebashi High School's wind Orchestra, he was the head of the wind orchestra and trombone player. When we went to Kusatsu spa for a training camp, I entrusted him to lead the students by train, and I went by car, so as to be able to deal with unforeseen situations during the training camp. About 50 members called him Sensei that means teacher while he was leading. Even so, I think it's marvelous that he is working as the NHK newsman.
