今も昔も巨大な枝を持つ倉賀野一の欅の木

　写真は、現在、我が倉賀野町で最も巨木と言える欅の木です。数百年前から宿場町として賑わい、また、烏川を利用して江戸からの荷物のターミナル港として栄えた倉賀野河岸を高い位置から見守ってきたのでしょう。

　この巨樹はご覧のように「幹の途中に不思議な穴」が開いてます。地上から１０mほどの所です。何故、穴が開いているかについては、この家の人も「昔から開いていた」というだけで分かりません。いわば倉賀野の七不思議です。この巨木には、古も令和時代も変わらぬことがあります。それは夏に起こる蝉時雨の大合唱です。

　ところで、今日から８月です。今年も残り１５３日のみになりました。蝉時雨が終われば初秋で虫の音に変わります。月日の経つのは誠に速いものです。

　我が身を振り返ると、令和５年になって以来「どれほど努力し、進歩したか」は、あまり成果は感じられませんが、一つだけ嬉しいことがあります。昨日、近所のクリニックで健診を受けたところ、担当医に「心電図の結果がとてもよい」と言われました。

　内心、やはり、毎朝行ってる２００回のキャフレイズが功を奏していると思いました。今月も健康第一に、人との交流を楽しみに生活します。
