今日の太陽高度は、ついに６０°

【左は西洋シャクナゲ、右は源平枝垂れ桃】

 今日、４月5日の日の出は５時２４分【群馬県】、日の入りは１８時０９分ですから、昼の長さは１２時間４５分です。正午の太陽角度は地面に対し６０°です。因みに冬至では３０°でしたから、太陽はずいぶん高くから地上を照らすようになりました。これは地軸が北極星に向いたまま、公転面に対して約２３．４°斜めに傾いて公転してるからです。

　昨日書きましたように、現在、地球の公転上の位置は黄道十二星座の「乙女座」の東端にある一等星「スピカ」の方向に来ています。珍しいことに、今年８月１０日の夕刻、この「スピカ」が月に隠れる「スピカ食」が起こると計算されてます。月の後方にも星があり、星が隠れてますが、明るい一等星「スピカ」が隠れることが時に起こります。

　この理由は、全天で２１個ある一等星のうち「乙女座」の「スピカ」のみが黄道上にあるからです。

　ところで、前述の通り、太陽高度が高くなったことと、時々降る春雨の影響で、植物たちは生気が漲り、我が家の庭でもシャクナゲを中心に開花が進んでます。写真の西洋シャクナゲには目が奪われます。日本シャクナゲの開花は５月です。見にいらして下さい。

　The reason for this natural phenomenon is that there are 21 first-magnitude stars in the universe, only Spica in the constellation Virgo is on the ecliptic.

　By the way, as mentioned above, the higher angle of the sun and the occasional spring rain have made the plants more vibrant, and the rhododendrons and other plants are blooming in our garden. The Western rhododendron in the photo is captivating. Japanese rhododendrons will bloom in May, I guess. Please come and see it.
