言葉は通じなくても、藤を見る目は共通

　新緑に覆われつつある中で、一際目に付く「赤紫の藤」です。もうすでに１５年ほど前から咲いてます。藤は香りがよく、普段は見ることがない大きな熊蜂が一体どこから飛来して来るのでしょう。すごい音を立てて蜜を吸いに来ます。藤の花は優しい姿で見る人を癒します。

　昨日は前の道を通りかかったヴェトナムの青年がこの藤を写真に収めてました。透かさず声を掛け、少しの間、英語と日本語で話をしましたが、来日したばかりのようで言葉はあまり通じません。しかし、花の魅力を感じる彼の心は私と同じで藤に魅入ってました。

　ところで、麻や木綿の普及にともなって姿を消しつつある現代ですが、藤の枝の皮は生活に活用され、藤で染めた藤織り・藤布の伝統を残そうと京都・丹後には保存会があるほどです。この事はたまたま昨夜のNHKテレビで紹介されてました。藤は日本古来からの植物で観賞とともに生活にも有用されてきたのです。

　藤の花には写真の赤紫の他、一般的には青紫が多く、白も見かけます。群馬県の今日は雨ですので、今日は水遣りしなくて済みます。誠に恵みの雨で、今日一日で新緑は一層深まり、私の夢である「森の中の暮らし」に一段と近づくでしょう。晴耕雨読と行きたいところですが、久々に「ショパンの雨だれ」を復習しましょう。

Dear my overseas friends who like wisteria the same as me

　The reddish-purple wisteria stands out among the fresh green leaves. I got this plant 15 years ago, since then it has been blooming every spring. Wisteria is fragrant, and I wonder where the big bumblebees that we don't usually see come from. They come to suck the nectar with making a lot of noise. Wisteria flowers heal us with their mild appearance.

　Yesterday, a young Vietnamese man was passing by on the path in front of my garden and took a photo of this wisteria. So I call to him and we spoke for a while in English and Japanese, but he seemed to have just arrived in Japan, so we couldn't understand much. However, he seemed to be fascinated by the charm of flowers just like me.

　Not change the subject, but wisteria branches are disappearing for using due to the spread of hemp and cotton, but the skin of wisteria branches is still used in daily life, especially in Tango, Kyoto prefecture, people are trying to preserve this tradition of wisteria weaving and wisteria cloth dyed with wisteria. There is even a preservation society. This tradition was introduced on NHK TV last night. Wisteria is a plant that has been used since ancient times in Japan, and has been appreciating as well as useful in daily life.

　In addition to the red-purple color shown in the photo, wisteria flowers are generally blue-purple in color, and white flowers are also seen. It's raining today in Gumma Prefecture, so there's no need to water the plants today. The rain has truly been a blessing, for me, as the result, the fresh greenery has deepened throughout the day. Therefore, it brings me even closer to my dream of "living in the forest". Plow the field on fine days and read books on wet days, but I'm going to review "Chopin's Rain Drop Prelude'' after a long interval.
