今振り返ると、充実してた青年教師の夏休み

【嬬恋村・愛妻の丘からの景色・・・田代湖が見える】

　今日から夏休みです。現役中はどこの高校でも吹奏楽部の顧問であったことから、今盛んに行われてる高校野球の県大会では、暑い中、群馬大会に毎試合応援に、また、甲子園球場にも応援のため吹奏楽部員を引き連れ２回行きました。貸し切りバスで前の晩に出発し、翌朝、兵庫県に到着という強硬スケジュールで中央高速経由で行き充実した青春でした。

　それとは別に夏休みには、吹奏楽祭や吹奏楽コンクールがあるので、「大きな音を出す応援と、音色や和声に拘る芸術」との切り替えが難しかったです。このため、５０～６０名の部員を引き連れ、高崎・前橋よりは涼しい新潟県の苗場スキー場、北毛青年の家、また、草津シズカ山スキー場などで１週間の合宿が続く夏休みで、今考えれば音楽教育に専念でき、充実した日々でした。

　彼らはすでに４０代～６０代半ばであり、音楽を職業としてる人もいます。早い人はお孫さんに囲まれているでしょう。お会いしてこちらが人生を教わりたいものです。

　ところで、この夏は例年より猛暑と予報されてます。涼しい朝の時間帯を有効利用したいです。日中の外出は慎み、水分補給はこまめに喉が渇く前です。私はお気に入り喫茶「さんぽ道」で過ごしたり、時々はドライブで「愛妻の丘」や県内の湖、そして山岳地帯と日帰り温泉へ、夕食はこれまたお気に入り小料理屋「バク」で過ごし、家ではたくさんの植物への水遣りが日課です。

　Summer vacation starts today. During my active career, I was the advisor teacher for the brass band at every high school, so in the prefectural high school baseball tournament that is now popular, I went to the Gumma tournament to cheer at every game, even in the heat, and also to Koshien Stadium twice for nationwide tournament with the brass band members to cheer. We left the night before in a chartered bus and arrived in Hyogo Prefecture the next morning, on a tight schedule via the Chuo Expressway, so that it was a fulfilling youth.

　Apart from that, during summer vacation, there was the brass band festival at Takasaki Music Center and brass band competition, so it was difficult to switch between "loud cheering and art that focuses on tone quality and harmony". For this reason, we took 50 to 60 members and went to Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture, Hokumo Youth House, and Kusatsu spa Shizukayama Ski Resort in Gumma Prefecture, which is cooler than Takasaki and Maebashi, and had a week-long training camp. Looking back, I was able to devote myself to music education and had fulfilling days.

　They are already in their 40s to mid-60s, and some of them became professional musicians. Those who make it early will be surrounded by grandchildren. I would love to meet them and learn from them about the way of life.

　Not change the subject, but this summer is forecast to be hotter than usual. I want to make good use of the cool morning hours. I will refrain from going out during the day time and drink water frequently before I get thirsty. I spend my time at my favorite coffee shop, Sanpo-michi, and sometimes go for drives to "Beloved wife's hill", lakes in the prefecture, mountain areas and day spas, and have dinner at another favorite small tavern named Baku, and at home it is my daily routine to water the many plants.
