夏休みを前に、児童の下校時パトロールに参加

　今日の午後、地元・倉賀野小児童の下校時に交通安全パトロールをしました。いっしょに参加されたのは高齢女性二人です。子供たちを見ると、1年生と2年生ではずいぶん背が違って見えました。やはり、年々成長していることが分かります。６年生になると、すでに大人の風貌が漂ってる児童もいます。

　もっとも、あと８年で成人式を迎えるのですから、心身ともに予想以上に成長しているのでしょう。私としては、必ず「お帰りなさい」と声を掛けたり、時々「倉賀野小校歌」を口ずさむと、「おじさん、何故、校歌を知っているの」と不思議な顔をして訊きます。校歌は子供が歌うものと思っているらしいです。

　通学路を約２キロを歩いた後、今年、私は近隣の班長のため「高崎広報」を１３軒に配りました。ですから、午後はずいぶんよい運動となり、これだけ動けば、夕食のビールの味は一入でしょう。しかし、何か足りません。

　This afternoon, I participated a road safety patrol for the children of the local Kuragano Elementary School on their way home. I was joined by two elderly ladies. Looking at the children, I noticed that the first and second graders looked very different in height. It is clear that they are growing year by year. Some children of the sixth grade, already have the appearance of adults.

　However, they will have their coming-of-age ceremony in eight years, so they must have grown more physically and mentally than I expected. I always say "Okaerinasai that means Welcome from school" to them, and sometimes I hum the "Kuragano Elementary School Song." As the result they ask me with a puzzled look, and saying "How do you know the school song?" They seem to think that school song is for children to sing.

　After my walking about two kilometers for patrol, furthermore, this year I distributed "Takasaki Newsletter" to 13 houses because I became the group leader in the neighborhood. So it was a good workout for this afternoon, and all that walking will make the beer at dinner taste even better. But something was missing.
