不燃物回収作業に従事

　今日は午前８時半より約２時間に亘って、倉賀野上４地区から出た不燃物の空き缶、段ボール、古本、古雑誌、古新聞を３台の軽トラで回収し、上四公園で業者のゴミ収集車に詰め込む作業に従事しました。古本や新聞は束になると数キロとかなり重く、よい筋肉鍛錬になります。

　それにしても、今日は生憎寒い中、家庭から出たアルミ缶をビニール袋から出し、ご覧の大きな袋に詰めました。その数・推定数千個でよく飲んだものと驚きます。先程、作業が終わりました。

　ところで、今日3月8日は国連が定めた国際女性デーです。 国や民族、言語など越え、女性たちが達成してきた功績を祝福し、ジェンダー平等を考える日として、毎年世界各地でさまざまなイベントが行なわれます。

　
　この日は女性の権利と政治的、経済的分野への参加を盛り立てていくために1975年に制定されました。記念日に選ばれた3月8日は1904年にアメリカで女性労働者が婦人参政権を求めてデモを起こした日といわれます。

　Today, starting at 8:30 a.m., for around two hours, we used three light trucks to collect non-burnable waste - such as empty cans, cardboard boxes, used books, magazines, and old newspapers - from the Kuragano Kami-4th district, and loaded them into a garbage truck at Kami-4th Park. The used books and newspapers are quite heavy, weighing several kilograms in bundles, and make for a good muscle workout for me.

　Even so, despite the cold weather today, we took the aluminum cans out of the plastic bags and packed them into the large bags you see here. It's amazing how many cans people in this district drank-an estimated several thousand of them. We just finished the work.

　Not change the subject ,but today March 8th is International Women's Day set by the United Nations. Various events are held every year around the world as a day to celebrate the achievements of women, regardless of country, ethnicity or language, and to think about gender equality.

　It was enacted in 1975 to boost women's rights and participation in political and economic fields.

March 8th which was chosen as the anniversary, was the day in 1904 when female workers protested in the United States for women's suffrage.
