サルスベリの幼木を育てつつ、自らも変化したい

　満開のサルスベリは昨年に撮った写真です。枝の端から端まで７mほどあります。ぜひ、クリックし、臨場感を味わってください。ご存じの通り、開花期間は７月上旬～１０上旬までの約１００日間、紅く咲き続けるので百日紅とも書きます。私は７月中旬に生まれたので、毎年、誕生日を祝福するように咲いてくれます。

　これだけ大きい樹木になるとキジバトがよく来て休憩してます。もちろん、この木の下に水飲み場があるので居心地がいいのでしょう。まるで、私の未来の姿を想像させるようです。

　自然とはよく出来ていて、いつの間にか、このサルスベリの子供があちこちで生えます。１週間ほど前にも私は幼木を発見し、早速、植木鉢に移植して大切に育ててます。サルスベリの幼木はこれ以外にも２本を育ててます。同様に、種が零れて生える植物には源平枝垂れがあり、こちらはすでに今春３本が咲きました。人間は一緒に住む家族がいないのに、花が咲く樹木は子沢山です。私は毎日水を遣りつつ、寂しい中にも夢中で育ててます。

　ところで、高齢となったら、この「夢中でやることがある」ことが必須でしょう。その対象は「好きなこと」です。誰でも、いつかは意外と早く高齢となり、その時は取り巻く環境も変化します。子供の頃の私は８人家族の末っ子で賑やかで楽しかったのに皆どこへ行ってしまったのでしょう。この世は誠に不思議です。今日から年間で最も活動できる５月です。日々、筋肉を増強し、あちこちへ出かけ、いろんな人にお会いして見聞を広めたいです。

　This photo of the full-bloomed Crape Myrtle was taken by me last year. It is about 7m from one end of the branch to the other. Please click on it to get a sense of reality. As you know, it blooms for about 100 days from early July to early October, and continues to bloom red, so it is also written as 100-day crape myrtle. I was born in mid-July, so it blooms every year to celebrate my birthday.

　Because the tree grows this big, the Japanese turtle dove often comes and takes a rest. Of course, it is comfortable because there is a drinking water under this tree. It is like my future self.

　Nature is great, before I knew it, baby Crape Myrtle trees had sprouted here and there. About a week ago, I found a young tree so that immediately transplanted it into a flowerpot to raise it carefully. I am raising two other Crape Myrtle young trees. Similarly, a plant that grew from a seed spill is the bicolored peach named Genpeishidare, and three of these children have already bloomed this spring. Although human that means me do not have families to live with, this flowering tree has many children. I water them every day and, in spite of my loneliness, I am passionate about nurturing them.

　Not change the subject, but when everyone get older, it is essential to have something to do that you are passionate about. This should be something you love. Everyone will eventually grow old surprisingly quickly, and when that happens, the environment around us will change without our prediction. As a child, I was the youngest child in a family of eight, therefore my childhood was lively and fun, but where have everyone gone? This world is truly strange. Today marks the start of May 2025, the most active month of the year. I want to build up my muscles every day, go out here and there, meet many people, and broaden my horizons.
