晩秋から冬季は野生動物が出現しやすい

　日に日に晩秋が近づき、今まで緑色をしてたクロガネモチの実はここへ来て急に黄色く目立ってきました。１１月には赤くなり、１月末には野鳥たちにとってご馳走になります。冬季は餌が不足することからピーチクパーチク賑やかになります。殺風景の冬景色になっても活気が感じられ、庭は四季折々に変化していきます。

　野鳥が庭に来るなら歓迎ですが、ニュースでは連日のように熊が人家近くに出現して人的被害が伝えられてます。もし熊に突然遭遇したら、どんなに驚きパニックになるでしょう。以前に友人のアルカディアさんが群馬県の榛名山で熊に追いかけられ、逃げる途中、転んで足を骨折し、それでも逃げたそうです。このため、山が好きな私ですが、昔のように徒歩による山への単独行を控えてます。私には未だ夢があるからです。

　２年ほど前ですが、日帰り温泉「吉井ドリームセンター」へ行く途中、私の車の直前を大きな鹿２頭が道路を横切りました。小鹿１頭もそばに居たので親子でしょう。あまりにも急な出来事に驚くと共に、初めて見る野生の鹿の大きさと美しい姿にびっくりです。あちらもびっくりした様子で、すぐに森の中に見えなくなりました。

　確かに、私の住む群馬県でも自然環境は今までとは変化しています。「地球は人間だけのものではないこと」を再認識し、皆さん、お互いに野生動物に気をつけましょう。

　As late autumn approaches day by day here in Japan, the berries of the Ilex rotunda which were previously green, have suddenly turned yellow and become more noticeable. They will turn red in November to December and become a feast for wild birds by the end of January. During the winter, when food is scarce for them, the garden becomes lively with the chirping of wild birds. Even in the bleak winter landscape, a sense of vitality can be caused, so that the garden changes next season.

　I welcome wild birds to my garden, but the news reports daily about bears appearing near residential areas and causing injuries to human. How surprised and panicked people would be if we suddenly encountered a bear! A friend of mine, Mr. Arcadia was chased by a bear on Mt. Haruna in Gumma Prefecture, so while running away, he fell and broke his leg, but he still escaped. Although I love mountaineering, I have to refrain from going on solo hikes in the mountains as I used to. That's because I still have big dream to fulfill.

　About two years ago, on my way to my favorite "Yoshii Dream Center" hot spring resort, two large deer crossed the road right in front of my car. There was also a fawn nearby, so it was probably a family. I was surprised by the suddenness of their appearing, and also astonished by their size and beauty of the wild deer, which I was seeing for the first time. They also seemed surprised and quickly disappeared into the forest.

　Indeed, the natural environment in Gumma Prefecture, where I live, is changing compared to the past. We have to reaffirm that "the Earth does not belong only to humans," and let's all be careful of wild animals.
