息を吹き返した「ツツジ」・・・今度こそしっかり育てます。

　ついに１０月３１日です。最近、夜空を見ると暫くぶりに、おおいぬ座の「シリウス」マイナス1.44等級が南東の空に見えるようになりました。ご存じの通り、この全天で最も明るい「シリウスが午前０時に真南に来る日を１月１日とした」人類の先達に心より敬服です。どれ程、後世の全人類に影響を与えてるか計り知れません。暦の大元です。

　この事実を未だ確認してない人は今度こそ「除夜の鐘」が鳴るとき真南に一際明るく輝く「シリウス」を見て１年の始まりを実感してください。太陽の回りを公転してる地球が「シリウス」の方角に到達したときを一年のスタートラインとしたので、これは世界共通です。「シリウス」はオリオン座の一等星「ベテルギウス」、こいぬ座の一等星「プロキオン」を結んでできる「冬の大三角」を構成することでも有名です。

　ところで、今夏の猛暑で枯れてしまった思われた「ピンクと白の混ざったツツジ」に新芽が出て来たことを知った私は一昨日、築山の一角に植え替えました。来年の夏が猛暑でも今度はすぐに水を遣れます。生き返ったばかりで葉がまだ小さいですが、半年後の来春はもしかして開花するかもしれません。期待していたツツジなので嬉しいです。数年後には元の大きさになるでしょう。今度はよく見える場所です。観賞にいらして下さい。

　これを機に、今後は物事をしっかり観察し、必要な手立てを早めに行います。この事は、植物に限らず、周囲にいる高齢者や子供たちにも忘れずに役に立ちたいです。

When we look at the night sky recently, I we can see Sirius which is the brightest star with a magnitude of -1.44 in the constellation named Canis Major, in the southeastern sky. I have the utmost respect for our ancestors who designated January 1st as the day when Sirius reaches its southernmost point at midnight. This fact has influenced all of humanity in later generations is immeasurable. It is the foundation of our contemporary calendar.
