「売り場に４キロ入りの米」・・・上毛新聞「みんなのひろば」より

　今日の上毛新聞【群馬県】読者投稿欄「みんなのひろば」に、この「ブログ」のコメンテーター「時計屋の隣りさん」の投稿文が掲載されました。誠におめでとうございます。

　内容は現在の社会で大きな問題になってる分野だけにインパクトがあります。このため、県内外の皆様にもご紹介いたします。

・・・・タイトル「売り場に４キロ入りの米」・・・・

　スーパーの米コーナーに行くと、５キロで３８５０円の価格が表示されていた。隣には３１９０円の米が並んでいる。それを手にして驚いた。内容量が5キロでなく、4キロだったのだ。１キロ当たりの価格に換算すると７９７円で、５キロでは３９８７円になる。

　少しでも安くという消費者の心理を見透かし、量を減らして安く見えるよう錯覚して売る方法を、マーケッティングの世界で「シュリンクフレーション」と言うそうだ。

　現在、米の値段は恐ろしいほどの狂騰ぶりだ。買占めによる流通の停滞をはじめ、さまざまな要因があるようだ。さらに不安に思うのは、米の絶対的不足が言われ始めたこと。事実だとすれば備蓄米の放出だけでは対応しきれず、買いだめも起こりかねない。

　政府のこれまでの農業政策が作付面積の減少と農業所得の低下を招き、稲作従事者や後継者不足を引き起こし、その結果、供給力が不足し、米価高騰を招いたという指摘もある。政府は「令和の米騒動」を教訓に、食料供給への不安を払拭するため、抜本的な対策を講じる必要がある。

看板はローマ字表記より、英語表記が分かりやすい

　この看板は高崎市木部町にあり、新幹線に乗っていても見えます。私のウォーキングコースの土手に設置されてます。ローマ字でも書かれてますが、外国の方に理解されるためにはKabra Riverが良いと思います。KABURAではカビュラと読まれます。GAWAでは意味が分かりません。

　下の写真は鏑川近くの畑の下を掘削したものですが、ご覧の通り、７～８ｍ下の方まで厚い層で石や砂利が詰まってます。有史以前の川の様子が見て取れます。この石たちはきっと数億年ぶりに陽の目を見たのでしょう。

　ところで、今日、私は余りにも垂れ下がって咲いてるサルスベリの枝を可哀そうですが、剪定しました。蕾と花の重さで下がってしまったのです。来客の通り道なので仕方がありません。昔の写真を見たら、１０月では今年のようにたくさん咲いてません。今年は猛暑が影響したと想われ、昨日の写真の通り未だ満開です。

　The photo below shows an excavation under the field near the Kabra River, and as you can see, a thick layer of stones and gravel is filled up to 7-8 meters below. We can see what the river looked like before history. These stones must have seen the light of sun for the first time in hundreds of millions of years.

　By the way, today I pruned the branches of a crepe myrtle in the garden that were drooping too much, even though I felt sorry for them. They had drooped due to the weight of the buds and flowers. It can't be helped since it is a path for visitors. Looking at old photos, crepe myrtle did not bloom as profusely in October as this year. I think this year's extreme heat in Japan has had an effect as you can see in yesterday's photo, they are still in full bloom this year.

地球温暖化を肌で感じる昨今

　未だ５月であるのに、昨日は群馬県でも本当に暑かったです。このためでしょうか。山形県南陽市で4日に起きた森林火災は5日に一気に燃え広がり、９５ヘクタールが焼けたと伝えられます。この面積は東京ドーム21個分と同じといわれ、周辺住民410人に避難指示が出されてます。

　近年は、世界的にも森林火災が多く、ハワイ・マウイ島の火災のほか、カナダ、ギリシャ、ポルトガル、チリなど各地で大規模な山火事が相次ぎ、犠牲者は多数と伝えられてます。

　森林火災の原因として「高温と乾燥した気候」が考えられ、鎮火しにくく、燃え広がりやすいでしょう。地球温暖化が深刻になれば、今回のように、日本も森林火災が増える可能性はあります。焼けた森林の再生は百年単位でかかり、動植物へ影響は計り知れません。

　一方、トンガやソロモン諸島など南太平洋の島々では海面上昇や海岸浸食が深刻であり、水没の危機に瀕してる伝えられます。大気中の二酸化炭素などの濃度が増えてくると、温室効果が高まり、結果として地球の平均気温が上昇していきます。発電のため、多量の石炭に依存している日本は温室効果ガスの削減に早急に取り組まなければならない。

コンクリートを減らし、緑を増やす環境づくり

 

　私が住む群馬県は太平洋側と日本海側のちょうど中間に位置し、中でも、北西部は山岳地帯であることからこれから雪に覆われます。一方、私が住む南部は関東平野の奥まった位置にあり、空っ風が吹きますが、概して雪は降りません。

　子供の頃は度々雪が降り、雪だるまを作ったり、赤い南天の実を目にしてウサギを作ったり、学校では雪合戦して楽しかった憶があります。大工仕事が好きだった私は「オリオン号」と命名した橇(そり)を作り、近くの坂で自ら乗って滑って楽しんだものです。

　当時に比較し、近年、群馬県南部では降雪が殆どなくなり、記憶に新しい今夏の猛暑を振り返っても、これら降雪の減少は世界規模な気候変動の一端と考えられます。

　調べてみると、日本の人口は年々８０万人ほど減少しつつありますが、地球上に住む人類は年々増加し、今年２０２３年には８０億人を超えたと言われ、食糧難の心配があります。地球温暖化に対し、人類一人一人が、自分ができることは何かを考えて実践し、未来の子孫のために地球沸騰化などと言われる気候変動を今のうちに食い止めなくてはなりません。例えば、私たちは可能な限り、これ以上、照り返しが強いコンクリートの庭にせず、土の表面を広く残し、開発と銘打った自然破壊せず、緑豊かな庭づくりなど光合成を促す環境を広げたいものです。

　写真上は、一人暮らしの私には食べ切れないほどの庭の金柑、左下は西隣の家のみかん、右下は東隣の家のみかんで、現在、私の庭の周囲は柑橘類がいっぱいな環境です。

　According to research, the population of Japan is decreasing by about 800,000 people every year, but the number of humans living on the earth is increasing every year and is said to exceed 8 billion people by 2023. There are concerns about food shortages. Each and every human being must think about what they can do to combat global warming and do what they can to stop climate change, which is often referred to as global boiling. 皆様、暫くでした。カッキーは元気です。

　珍しく１３日間も更新がなく、皆さまにはご心配をおかけしました。しかし、私【カッキー】は元気ですからご安心ください。もちろん、お酒はブログ及びフェイスブック友人である皆さまのお顔を思い出しつつ、楽しく飲んでいました。

　実は、パソコンが不具合になり、修理に出してました。パソコンがないと、それをお伝え出来ませんでした。そして、今日やっと手元に戻り、暫くぶりに更新の喜びに浸っています。

　特に、ブログは既に１７年間も続けているので「暫く休憩しなさい。」と、もしかして、天の指導があったのでしょう。更新を休んでいる期間中は、いつも通りに植物の世話や、青い車でドライブ、日帰り温泉、この年になっても天声人語を教材として英単語の勉強をしてました。しかし、更新がないと何か生活が空虚になり、発想力が著しく減退し、少しボケた様です。

　ですから、「人間にとって大切なことは創造性を磨くこと」と今更ながら感じてしまいました。しかし、表現の手段がありませんでした。明日からは雑談のような内容でしょうが、再度、更新する予定ですので、よろしくご指導をお願い申し上げます。

　という私も現代に足並みをそろえ、スマホを持ち、パソコンでブログを書いてますから、特に「アイフレイル」という目の衰えを回避するため、自らへの戒めでもあります。

　特に、スマホは目との距離が近く、長い時間、首がいつも３０°ほど下向きの固定した姿勢になり、今の自分はその状態であることをしっかり認識し、目から３０cmほど離すようにしましょう。時々は遠方の山々を暫く眺めたり、天を仰いで、首周辺の筋肉を柔軟にする必要を感じます。

　ところで、専門家の話では、両目をぱっちり大きく開け、瞬きせず「１０秒間もたない場合はドライアイである」と言われます。特に若い人は、これから６０～７０年と毎日、四六時中、目を使うので、目の健康を考えてスマホに向かう必要があります。一方、物事を受動するのみでなく、自ら発想する生活も心掛けたいものです。

電車内の光景に驚く

　IT技術の普及で急速に広まったスマートフォンは瞬時にして国境のない世界に入ります。最も心配されるのは、未来ある子供たちの視力の低下、及び、私たちはサイバー空間が身近に存在しても、その危険性を忘れがちです。

　「手に持って移動できる携帯電話」が発表されて以来、話すだけでなく、見ることができるスマホは老若男女を虜にし、「実際に会ったことがない人と繋がる」ので、便利なだけでは済まなくなる気がします。特に、子供たちは「今までにない危険性に巻き込まれる可能性」が指摘されてます。

　今や、スマホとコンピュータの処理能力に差が殆どなくなり、「便利という名のもとに、ひとときも手放すことができない」そんな人も少なくありません。

　その点で私が驚くのは、ベビーカーを押しながらスマホに目をやり続ける母親です。赤ちゃんは母の声や、母の子守歌が聞けなくてきっと不安でしょう。歩きスマホは当たり前、自転車スマホ、横断歩道を渡りながらのスマホ、デート中も互いに自分のスマホに目をやり続けるカップルもいます。心は繋がるのでしょうか。電車の中では９割以上の人が首を斜め３０°下に向け同じ姿勢でスマホを見ています。この光景には本当に驚いてしまいます。世の中はどうなっているのでしょう。

　SNSで「誰かにすぐに繋がる便利な世の中」でも、こうした「不確実の繋がり」に人間は生涯に亘り振り回され続け、自ら物事をじっくり考える時間が確保できるでしょうか。２４時間スマホをそばに置き、トイレの中でもそれをチェックするとされてます。これを異常事態と言わずに何と言いましょう。

　今の世の中で私も生活してます。スマホに振り回されず、目を見ての対話、自然観察、芸術に邁進する日々を目指します。

ウォーキングしつつ気づく 現代社会の課題

　梅雨の中休みの夕方３０分ほど、姿勢に気をつけウォーキングしています。ところが、最近、益々気になることが目に入ります。庭に樹木が生い茂って通路にはみ出していても、その家にはカーテンが閉まっていたり、常に雨戸が閉まっていたりする家屋が年々増加しています。

　私の家を中心として半径１００メートル以内でも、現在、およそ１０軒が空き家の状態です。人間が住んでいない家屋は見てすぐに分かります。それは家の表情が何となく物寂しい訴えをしているからです。

　現実には、高齢の住民が一度、施設に入所したり入院すると多くの場合、再度その家に戻る可能性が少ないからでしょう。

　民生委員の話によると、私の住む上四地区だけでも６０人が一人暮らしとのことです。これは子供との同居が少なくなった現代の家族形態に起因します。昔は空き家はありませんでした。

　生涯をかけて何千万円というローンの返済を続け、購入した高い買い物が最後はそのまま無言で放置されてます。この状態はますます増え続け、空き家は悪の温床として使われることも起こり得ます。現代社会で解決すべき行政の大きな課題です。

　それとは対照的に田畑がなくなり、そこに新築家屋が年々、建設されてます。今後も歴史は繰り返されそうです。

ＩＴ化 世の中ますます 不安定

　平素、私は遠方へ行く場合以外、何処へ行くにもスマホを携帯せず、スマホに頼らず生活するよう努めてます。ですから、一般の人に比較すれば使用する頻度は１０分の１程度でしょう。つまりほとんど使ってません。フェイスブックやブログはパソコンから発信してます。パソコンなら首を下に曲げず、姿勢は正しく、目の健康面から画面との距離を５０cmに保てます。

　担当者の話では、このような文言を画面に出してスマホ使用者の不安を煽る組織があるのことです。この対策方法は「それに対応せず、どこもクリックしないこと」、つまり「無視することが大切」と言われました。

　普通電話においても、知らない組織や人から、また、市役所を名乗る人から「還付金があります」など、一般の人が引っ掛かりやすい電話が掛かって来ることが多く、最近の世の中は非常に不安定に感じます。お互いに気をつけましょう。

　Except when I go far away, I don't carry my smartphone with me wherever I go, and I try to live without relying on my smartphone. 走行距離やっと１万K、今後も時間の余裕を持つ

【群馬県・愛妻の丘で】

　以前の黄色のＴＴから、この空色になって２年3ヶ月が経過し、走行距離がやっと１万Ｋになりました。それでも、この距離は鹿児島から稚内まで２往復半走った距離で、地球をやっと４分の１周した距離に相当します。

　以前に書きました通り、若き日に乗っていた初代の１１７(いちいちなな)クーペは２６万Ｋ走ったのですから、地球を６周半走ったことになります。今のままの頻度で、このＴＴで同じ距離を走るには後、５０年かかります。

　この車のガソリンはハイオクで、高崎市「滝の慈眼寺」の東のスタンドで１６１円で入れてます。レギュラーの場合は１５１円です。

　運転で気をつけてることは「危ない時間帯」に乗りません。それはトラックがスピードを出してる早朝、前方が見難い雨の日の夕方、そして通学路です。また、TTは車体の横幅が膨らんでるので狭い道は通過しません。一方、カーブは遠心力が働くので必ず減速です。実際には何と言っても「時間的余裕と車間距離」と考えてます。

　It's been 2 years and 3 months since I bought this new sky blue TT by trading in the previous yellow TT, and the mileage has finally reached 10,000km. Even so, this distance is equivalent to two and a half round trips between Kagoshima-city and Wakkanai-city, and barely a quarter of the way around the earth. This is almost the same distance between Japan and New Zealand where Ms. Sarah lives.

　As I wrote before, the first-generation of Isuzu 117 Coupe that I rode in my young days together with Ms. Sarah ran 260,000km that means six and a half times around the earth. It will take another 50 years to run the same distance on this new TT at the current frequency.

　Gasoline is high-octane for TT, and I can get it for 161 yen at the stand east of Takinojigenji Temple. In the case of regular, it is 151 yen.

　What to watch out for driving "I don't drive during "dangerous times and places", such as "Early morning when trucks are speeding, evenings when raining it's hard for us to see ahead, and avoiding school zone. Also, because the width of the car body is swollen, so I don't pass through narrow roads. On the other hand, as you know, curves always slow down because centrifugal force works. Actually, I'm thinking about "time margin and inter-vehicle distance" are indispensable.
